Investment $69.2 million

This Budget invests $69.2 million for the treatment, prevention and research of diseases so that Victorians get the right care sooner.

What will the money be used for?

The 2017/18 Budget includes investments for:

Health and medical research

$34.2 million to boost health and medical research, which will allow us to keep our world-class scientists in Victoria, helping them to find the cures of the future.

Victoria’s Cancer Plan

$14 million for delivering Victoria’s Cancer Plan, including 10,000 additional breast cancer screens and increasing the number of Victorians participating in the National Bowel Cancer Screening program.

Innovative approaches to health care

$12.7 million will be invested in delivering innovative approaches to health care. This will include trialling a new coordinated health care model through the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network.

Genomic testing

$8.3 million for genomic testing of rare undiagnosed conditions.
